...On the 9th of December Chris had his tonsils out and made a really fine recovery. . Mom and Dad were far more concerned about the operation than he was. . .. For several weeks before we tried to prepare him for it. One day I told him he would have to stay there overnight like I did when I had Doug. About a half hour afterwards he came to me and said, "I sure hope I don’t get a baby when I go to the hospital!" . . .He thought having breakfast in bed was a real luxury and liked most things except the hospital gowns. It bothered him a bit for he said to his daddy, "I’m sorry I look like a girl, daddy."
